The idea behind the governing principles of the University of the Philippines, "Honors and Excellence," served as the inspiration for the title "Mathematical Prowess." With honor, students demonstrate a deep respect for mathematics by devoting themselves to excellence and performing their mathematical skills, or prowess, to the highest possible standard. Therefore, the purpose of the title "Mathematical Prowess" is to direct the commitment, hard work, and ingenuity that students in MATH 10 Class H put forth in their efforts to study and become proficient in mathematics. Anyone may do great things in mathematics if they do the necessary work and keep their attention on the task at hand. Hence, students are given a foundation upon which they may build their aspirations to be the best they can be and their pursuits of mathematical excellence by adhering to the guiding principles established in the online exhibit "Mathematical Prowess." Students are directed by the principles to display creativity in their mathematical thinking, to have a constructive outlook on both learning and mathematics, and to be eager to share their mathematical knowledge and expertise with others. With these principles in mind, the students are able to set and achieve ambitious goals and become “Mathematical Prowess” individuals.
