Mathematics in Arts and Humanities

Partnerships between mathematicians and the contemporary arts, humanities, and entertainment worlds have become almost routine in an age of numbers. Mathematics is everywhere. It can be observed in the creation of aesthetically attractive music, in dance choreography, in the patterns of natural objects, in the designs of textiles, buildings and even in the way that poetry can represent your feelings and thoughts.

The pervasiveness of mathematical concepts in arts and humanities are distinguished in these concepts that lie under the concept of patterns; music, dance, indigenous textiles and architectural structures. It manifests itself in various art forms and other creative disciplines. Symmetries and transformations are used in art forms to move an object along a line or in a plane while maintaining its size and shape. Two instances where math may be clearly seen in the arts are when its ideas are applied as artistic tools and when it becomes a central theme of the work of art.
